Engaging Our People

ADAMA initiates and encourages our employees to volunteer regularly. Our People volunteer their time and expertise across various programs, including helping new immigrants, educating and encouraging excellence in teenagers, and promoting social welfare. Often this investment of time and knowledge is accompanied by a financial donation from ADAMA, according to the social investment policy.

Our Volunteer and Donation Numbers in 2020

  • Average of 20% of our employees in Israel volunteer.
  • Approximately 1,300 volunteer hours were invested in Israel.
  • In 2020, we made aggregated donations of approximately $2,738,000 , which is 2.7% of our pre-tax profit of ADAMA Agricultural Solutions Ltd.

Taking Action for Our Community

ADAMA colleagues regularly volunteer in unique projects through different charity organizations, and we didn’t stop during the COVID-19 crisis. Our people continued their volunteer activities in various ways while complying with the lockdown challenges and guidelines in different countries.

ADAMA Ukraine built special benches in the local park near the plant, designed to enable elderly citizens to spend time together outside while keeping social distance.

In Israel, as part of our ongoing collaboration with the Israeli non-profit organizations “Shiur Aher (A Different Lesson)” and “Educating for Excellence”, our people participated in the programs remotely, sharing their professional experience with students in Zoom sessions. As part of the course “Preparation for the world of work” our people led classes for teens in a wide variety of professional fields such as Economics, Sustainability, Culture, Legal etc.

For the past decade, ADAMA Israel has engaged with “Elem,” an Israeli NGO that assists youth at risk and in distress. Our employees participate in Elem’s “Partners for the Journey” program, in which they attend weekly individual meeting with teenagers who are invited to our Headquarters. These meetings and interactions with our people strengthen their self-confidence, motivate them and empower them to overcome challenges and difficulties they face.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to suspend Elem’s program at the beginning of the year. Nevertheless, our dedicated IT team in Israel volunteered to repair dozens of computers that were no longer in use, and distributed them to families whose children didn’t have a computer for video lessons or computer-based homework. The project was coordinated for the benefit of teenagers from Elem.

Our contact at Elem told us: “The computers have reached their destination, the homes of the boys and girls. They are grateful and excited. One of them shared that it will motivate her to invest and make the right choices for herself, rather than staying in risky and non-beneficial places. We feel the love invested in each and every computer. Thank you.”

In addition, our people and their families participated in a diverse range of volunteer programs around the world, to aid farmers and people in need, such as:

  • Packing and distributing food packages;
  • Collecting medicines, furniture, toys and other school supplies for children and families in need;
  • Visiting the homes of elderly and high-risk people with members of local youth movements, to ensure they did not fall into severe isolation;
  • Helping local schools all over the world by fixing and donating company computers.

Our people in Argentina, Colombia, Israel and Spain donated money and vacation days to help COVID-19 victims and ADAMA matched the donations resulting in hundreds of people and NGO’s receiving assistance in the form of grants and food parcels.

Looking Ahead

We expect to expand our volunteer involvement, through a combination of increasing the number of our People who volunteer, and the time investment in volunteer activities.

Our target is that each employee will volunteer at least once a year through ADAMA.
