ADAMA provides agricultural technology (AgTech) to farmers, along with its more traditional offerings, to help them reduce the quantity of the chemical products they need to apply and increase the efficiency of each application. The technology solutions that ADAMA offers in cooperation with many AgTech startups serve to optimize yields, decrease costs and minimize potential impact on health, safety and the environment. 

As a farmer-centric company, ADAMA knows that farmers need to make multiple agronomic decisions while considering their costs, efficiency and possible risks to environment.  

In order to provide farmers with a range of technological solutions, ADAMA partners with carefully selected innovative AgTech service providers, creating solutions for farmers’ pain points. The synergy of chemical and technological fields of knowledge, which is born in these partnerships, allow farmers to minimize any danger to the crops, themselves, or the environment, and to apply products in a proper and optimized way.

CASE STUDY - ADAMA & GrowingIL AgTech Challenge: a collaborative initiative

ADAMA and GrowingIL are proud to partner in order to profoundly impact tomorrow’s crop protection. The main goal of this challenge competition is to assist farmers achieve new heights of productivity while reducing environmental impact, by finding the most advanced AgTech solutions that will address the pressing challenges in today’s agriculture environment in an effective, precise, and sustainable manner. ​

Drift, run offs, crop protection residue, human exposure and soil health are some of the many risks that need to be mitigated towards reaching sustainable Agriculture and better outputs.

During the 4 months process, Israeli AgTech ecosystem companies were invited to show how their solutions can help farmers use ADAMA’s crop protection inputs more efficiently while minimizing the risks. At the 2nd stage of the competition, ADAMA’s agronomic and product development teams worked with the 5 finalists to fine-tune their solution towards a possible collaboration. The process ended with an online event where each startup presented their offering to a panel of judges from ADAMA’s top management.

The winner, AgroScout – high resolution-drone imagery analytics specialists will be working with ADAMA on a fully funded mutual Proof of concept in one of ADAMA’s subsidiaries

CASE STUDY - Disease models prediction: timely application of crop protection inputs

ADAMA is partnering with Pessl Instruments, a leader in developing and distributing hardware and software for smart agriculture applications. After several years of using various solutions from the METOS® services portfolio, ADAMA and Pessl are working together on disease models for key crops worldwide.

The disease model algorithms’ development is based on environmental parameters collected from farmers’ cloud-connected weather stations linked to the disease’s biology and life cycle. The prediction of the onset and progression of diseases in crops supports Adama’s customers with access to customized insights about the specific diseases to which their crops are most vulnerable based on local environmental conditions. This decision support tool will result in the effective and efficient environmental application of crop protection products.      

Supporting ADAMA’s principle that there is no one-size fits-all solution, these models are calibrated according to the crop the disease and the local environment. They enable the delivery of pinpointed advice to farmers, allowing them to treat plant diseases earlier in their development and identify the most effective product for each disease cycle point. In this way, farmers increase the efficacy of ADAMA products, maximize crop yields and improve resistance management.
